How to embed Issuu into WordPress

How to embed Issuu pdf viewer into a free wordpress.com blog

Click the “Get Embed Code” button on the Issuu page and copy the HTML code into Notepad. You’ll have this large bit of code:

Now copy the big, blue bold section.

In your Edit Post page on WordPress switch to HTML editor and insert the copied code as follows:

[ gigya BLUE BOLD CODE ]

So in this example it’ll be:

[ gigya src="http://static.issuu.com/webembed/viewers/style1/v1/IssuuViewer.swf" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" menu="false" style="width:420px;height:297px" flashvars="mode=embed&layout=http%3A%2F%2Fskin.issuu.com%2Fv%2Flight%2Flayout.xml&showFlipBtn=true&documentId=091029003617-3e3f15d9e5c942cc8eeab0cbfab84d76&docName=week0-2009-freshersweek&username=Student_newspaper&loadingInfoText=Week%200%20-%20The%20Student%20-%202009%2F2010&et=1297090578523&er=29" ]

Remember to close the square brackets!

Voila!:

Thanks for the code: I was working on wordpress on localhost, and ISSUE embedded fine with HTML or WordPress embed code. When I went to wordpress.com free blog site, I was surprised, it would not work and I may not be able to utilize my ISSUU Publications.

I might add that this works for Firefox browsers but I could not get it to appear in Safari 5.0.4…and I can’t seem to update my Safari browser to 5.1 because the operating system is not OSX 10.6…

That may be an issue, no pun intended, for people using outdated browsers, which is most of the world I am guessing, right now.

Okay I was able to update to Safari 5.0.6 and that did the trick. Now I can see my Issuu magazine in both Firefox and Safari.

  Thanks for this, worked great.
  I was wondering if you had any idea of how to make the ISSUU window appear larger in a post? I’ve tried embedding a larger size but all that happens is that wordpress displays the same sized window with scroll bars, I was hoping to get a 750×553 ISSUU embed into my post. Also, there seems to be about 4 lines of white space below my embed and I can’t work out how to get rid of it. Any tips?
